Carine Senior High School is offering two Music Scholarships to prospective Year 7 students starting in 2020.
The value of the scholarships is $1000 each, held at the school to assist towards expenses over Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, subject to satisfactory performance at the end of Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. A maximum of $250 can be expended each year to the maximum of $1000 through lower school. The scholarships are not transferable, are not convertible into cash and can only be used for costs associated with courses, uniform and excursions. The scholarships are exclusive of any government subsidies which an individual student may be entitled to receive, eg, secondary assistance.
Students are required to submit an application on the Scholarship Application Form. A short listed group of candidates will be invited to an interview with the Principal, a member of the School Council, the Head of Arts and another music specialist. A performance of approximately 5 to 10 minutes will be expected at the interview. A parent will be invited to all interviews.
Music Scholarships will be awarded to students who have:
- a demonstrated high level instrumental musical ability,
- outstanding appreciation of a broad spectrum of musical compositions,
- a passion to perform at the highest level,
- a voracious desire to learn,
- an impeccable attendance record, and
- a commitment to share their learning with others.
The school will expect each scholarship holder to contribute to the school community through actions and participation and be role models for their peers. Each scholarship holder will be named on the Scholarship Honour Board displayed in the school administration area and will be recognised through the school publications and on the website.
Scholarship application forms are available from the school office or the website from Tuesday 2 April.
Applications close on Friday 26 July and must be on the official application form.
