STUDENT USE OF COMPUTERS

 

ALL students at Carine Senior High School have the opportunity to log in to the school’s computer network with an individual account. Because teachers may require students to log in as part of their course ALL students, with their parent or guardian, must complete the Computer Use Accountability Form and return it to their contact teacher or with enrolment papers to the front office.

 

Benefits:

You have a place to save work that is kept separate and protected and available to you across the school, and access to electronic educational resources

 

Responsibilities:

You must abide by the School and Education Department policies for Information Technology.

You must ensure that files in your folder are legitimate school work…

The only legitimate place to save files is your H:My Documents folder.
This location must not contain…

o       Executable files (programs, exe ,games, scripts, shortcuts etc).

o       Music, Video Clips  (mp3, mov, avi, mpeg etc)

o       Offensive Material (Pictures, text, URLS, shortcuts, links etc)

 

Your Activities may not include…

o       Browsing anywhere other than your H: folder and Shared WorkSpace

o       Internet Browsing which is deemed offensive or unrelated to schoolwork.

o       Hacking activities including using proxy, cloaking or tunnelling Web sites.

 

Part of the policy says that student files are not private…

o       Your account may be accessed by any teacher at any time.

o       Your account is scanned for content on a regular basis.

o       We keep highly detailed logs of Computer, Printer and Internet use.

 

You must maintain the security of your account…

o       You must not give your password to any other student

o       You must not log in using another student’s password

o       You must log out when you finish your work

 

Whilst we take care to maintain the content of student accounts, the school is not responsible for the loss or erasure of files or data.
