Society & Environment Overview
The Society and Environment Faculty at Carine offers a broad range of experiences for students across their five years of schooling. In lower school students complete a common course covering a wide range of content focused on local, national and international issues.
In upper school, Carine students have a wide choice of TEE subjects: Economics, Geography, History and Political and Legal Studies. There has been a long term trend for students undertaking these subjects at Carine to achieve results above state averages. For those students interested in future studies at TAFE the non TEE subject Work Studies is a useful subject choice.
An academic extension program has again operated this year for students in years 8 to 10. Among the range of activities undertaken by these students has been the opportunity to participate in the National Share Game Competition .This internet based competition allows students to trade their selected share portfolios in real time.
In support of the Global Community Values priority operating at Carine the Society & Environment Faculty has incorporated a focus on Aboriginal studies into the lower school curriculum. This included an Aboriginal dance performance attended by all year 8’s and a poster competition during Megalife week.
