The Home Economics area at Carine adopts a dynamic and contemporary delivery of the subjects in our domain.
All Year 7 and 8 students are involved in Home Economics, with a taster course designed to give the students the opportunity to experience two areas, food and textiles. All students spend one semester in Home Economics in Year 7. In Year 8 students may select Home Economics as an elective.
Year 9 and 10 students are provided with an opportunity to choose discrete food or textiles courses, which are delivered as semester courses and may be selected in both semesters to provide building blocks for selection of our Year 11 and 12 courses. These courses are not, however, pre requisites for our Year 11 and 12 courses.
In Year 11 and 12 the Home Economics courses we deliver are:
- ATAR Materials Design & Technology – Textiles
- Certificate II Applied Fashion & Design
- General Children, Family and the Community
- General Food Science and Technology
For more detailed information about each of our courses please consult the Senior Secondary Course information at SCSA website.
