Application Process

The following is a step by step summary of the application process.

Step 1 – Check the Dates for Submitting your Application

Refer to the schedule of significant dates for submitting your application, late applications and changes of preference.  Make sure you know which dates apply to you and give yourself plenty of time to obtain supporting documentation, fill out the form and submit your application.

Step 2 – Find Qualifications that you Wish to Study

Click here to find a qualification that you may be interested in studying.  Please ensure that you meet the minimum entrance requirements for the qualifications that you choose. 

Step 3 – Seek Advice

It is strongly recommended that you discuss the qualifications that you would like to study with a TAFE college  Information Officer, the Senior School Manager or your AVID teacher at school, or telephone the Career Centre.

Step 4 – Prepare your Accompanying Documents

When applying for qualifications which require you to address selection criteria and entrance requirements, you must include photocopies of:

  • all academic records you have received since Year 9
  • any graduation certificates (including TAFE awards) you have received
  • any other results you want taken into account
  • a Statement of Equivalence if your qualifications are from overseas and proof that you meet TAFE literacy requirements
  • proof of Australian (or New Zealand) citizenship or proof of permanent Australian residency if you were not born in Australia
  • work references, group certificates and other written proof of any workplace experience you have done.

When applying for qualifications which require you to address entrance requirements ONLY, you must include photocopies of:

  • all academic records you have received since Year 9
  • any graduation certificates (including TAFE awards) you have received
  • any other results you want taken into account
  • a Statement of Equivalence if your qualifications are from overseas and proof that you meet TAFE literacy requirements
  • proof of Australian (or New Zealand) citizenship or proof of permanent Australian residency if you were not born in Australia.

Please note: Applications submitted without copies of appropriate documents will be returned.

Step 5 – Apply

Step 6 – Acknowledgement

You will receive a letter confirming your application has been received; however it is not an offer of a place. If you do not receive this letter within two weeks of submitting your application, phone TAFE Admissions Centre on (08) 9229 5400.

Step 7 – Offers

All applicants will get a letter by mail in mid January or June each year. Please click here for key dates. This letter will tell you if you have been offered a place. If you have been successful the letter will inform you how to enrol.
